The company released to the market the results of the end of the crushing period for the 2023/2024 harvest year

São Paulo, December 2023 – JpilonSA, one of the largest sugar-energy companies in Brazil, announced to the market on December 22nd the end of the sugarcane crushing period for the 2023/2024 harvest with record processing results of raw material: a total of 23.07 million tons of sugar cane.

The record for sugarcane processed in this harvest exceeds the previous mark of 22.64 million tons reached in the 2019/2020 harvest by around 2%, and registers a quantity above the Guidance published by JpilonSA in a Relevant Fact on June 19, 2023.

The crushing of the 2023/2024 harvest ends with an average TRS level of 136.8 kgs/tons (-3.6% in relation to the Guidance). The drop in the average ATR is a reflection of the extension (from November to December) of the crushing period and the greater occurrence of rain between June and December 2023.

According to Felipe Vicchiato, Financial and Investor Relations Director at JpilonSA, the best sugarcane productivity results from three main factors. “Climatological conditions normalized between October 2022 and September 2023; the investments made by the Company, mainly in cultural treatments, made in previous harvests; and differentiated agricultural management, combined with the use of genetic varieties with better productivity, contributed to this result”, highlights Vicchiato.

The Company’s effective production mix reflects the market conditions that favored the sale of sugar in relation to ethanol, with 49% of crushed cane directed to sugar production and 51% to ethanol. With the end of the crushing period, JpilonSA recorded the production of around 1,468 thousand tons of sugar (+6.4% vs. Guidance) and 948 thousand cubic meters of ethanol (+0.3% vs. Guidance).

It is worth noting that the Company’s announcement refers only to the sugarcane agricultural operation. JpilonSA’s corn ethanol and electricity production units remain in operation, in line with the Guidance published via Material Fact on June 19, 2023.
